    Fabulous

It was both relaxing and interesting surroundings, ideal for our family outing

    Fabulous

Lovely characterful hotel, full of old world charm and with a relaxed feel. Public rooms are very atmospheric and comfortable. Our room was a suite and being old, it had creaking floorboards and lots of exposed beams. The bathroom, whilst not luxurious, was clean and functional. Breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice. We also ate at hotel on both evenings of our stay and both meals were very enjoyable. The staff were friendly and helpful and went out of their way to fit us in for an extra nights stay.

    Fabulous

Well positioned for Melford Hall (NT).In lovely small town with fine architecture. Hotel itself a fine old building.Room in reasonably quiet location at rear ( but air extractor noise nearby rather obtrusive). Relaxed atmosphere.

See above re noise, and no aircon in rooms

    Exceptional

Really enjoyed our stay, was disapointed that despite my request, the fact that it was my husband's 70th birthday, this was ignored

    Exceptional

This is the third time I have stayed at The Bull. It is a beautiful old building with individual rooms. Every time I have stayed I have been upgraded. This really feels like an independent hotel that is well managed and wants to go places. One more thing - the food is really yummy!

    Very good

It is a lovely old building, we love the smell of the wood fires

    Good

The staff where very friendly and hardworking. Staff dealt with our complaint without dispute and apolgised for the problems we experienced and provided a goodwill discount. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The location was very good.

Unfortunately, we did experience some problems. There was a wedding at the hotel the night we stayed, so not all the facilities where avaliable to us. The window in our room had been left open resulting in our room being very cold on arrival and the heating did not come on until 7pm. The shower kept running cold and then scalding hot and then in the morning the water stopped completely half way through my shower. Even without the problems we had I did feel that the hotel was expensive for what we got.

    Very good

It is a very attractive 15th century hotel with many interesting historic features.

The room, although spacious and clean, was in need of refurbishment. The hotel is very popular for weddings and the facilities can be put under pressure in these circumstances. In particular the car park is insufficient for the size of the hotel.

    Superb

The design and old style architecture of the building with nice romm and a very nice bar

    Good

Lovely old building with loads of atmosphere and history. Staff very friendly and anxious to please. Great location. Good food and varied menu.

Lack of attention to detail (no information in room on how to telephone reception or make outside calls, and morning papers placed on table near breakfast area were not marked by room number, so ours were "stolen" on 2 days out of 5). Meal service in dining room & bar was un-professional (waitresses had no idea of what was on menu) & hopelessly slow. Once it took 35 minutes to serve lunch-time bar snacks. When dined in bar, our mustard was was delivered when we had eaten our steaks. One night we booked a table in the dining room for 19.30, but sat down at 19.20 as we were starving. At 19.40, we had to chase a waitress to take our order, which included a nacho starter to keep us going while main course served. At 20.10 we were brought the wrong main courses, and our starter had been forgotten. We finally got our nachos at 20.20, and our main courses at 20.40, exactly 1 hour after ordering, and 80 minutes after sitting down. (We did get 2 glasses of wine on the house, as an apology) Management needs tightening up & staff trained properly. A shame, as place has great potential
